Chevy to Have EV’s for Everyone and Everywhere

For a while, you had to be willing to spend a lot of money to find yourself in a nice electric vehicle. The average cost of an all-electric vehicle is over $65,000 in the United States, according to Kelly Blue Book. Chevrolet is working to change that.

The brand continues to announce capable, versatile, and affordable electric vehicles. You don’t need a ridiculous car budget to get a new Chevy EV. By offering vehicles with great capabilities at fair prices, they’re making it possible for more people to leave the gas pump in the rearview forever.

The team at Chevy didn’t stop after they made one or two great electric vehicles at reasonable prices. They continue to electrify all types of vehicles, from cars to crossovers to pickup trucks. Creating an accessible Chevy EV for all types of lifestyles will get more gas-powered vehicles off the road and keep us moving toward a sustainable future.

Chevy’s EV Charged-up Choices

Chevy already offers two attractive electric vehicles: the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. The Bolt EV is especially affordable and easy to drive, while the Bolt EUV provides more space for people who want a more SUV-like experience. Both of these options started as EVs.

Now Chevrolet is electrifying some of the brand’s most classic and beloved vehicles:

    • Chevy Blazer EV – Keep an eye out for the new, all-electric Blazer starting in the Summer of 2023. The first run of the Blazer was from 1969 to 1995. The Blazer made quite a name for itself during that time. It came back as a gas-powered vehicle in 2019, and now the Blazer EV is ready to change the perception of what an SUV is all about.
    • Chevy Equinox EV – This vehicle will be available starting in the Fall of 2023. The Equinox is already one of Chevy’s most popular cars (behind only the Silverado), so we expect the electric version to be in high demand as well. It won’t hurt that the Equinox EV is expected to have a starting price of roughly $30,000. This will make it less than half the cost of the average electric SUV.
    • Chevy Silverado EV – As the most popular vehicle in the entire Chevrolet lineup, the Silverado will likely become a top-selling electric pickup truck overnight. It will be available starting in the fall of 2023.

Chevrolet is committed to investing heavily in the development of electric vehicles. The available and upcoming options are already impressive, and the legendary American brand is only getting started. It’s safe to expect more big news about Chevy EVs in the near future.

The GM Ultium Platform

Most GM electric vehicles, including the lineup of Chevy EVs, run on the Ultium Platform. This platform requires less wiring and is highly scalable. As a result, Ultium batteries can be configured for a wide variety of different vehicle types. Because the solution works for sedans, SUVs, and trucks, it will power the future of electric propulsion for Chevrolet and other GM brands.

Ultium batteries charge fast, which will help overcome one of the biggest current drawbacks of electric vehicles. Getting an EV to full charge takes longer than filling up a vehicle with gas. This might not be a big deal to daily drivers who charge their vehicles overnight or while they work.

Recharging can become a minor inconvenience on road trips, though. New Chevy EVs will be able to regain more range in less time, making them more viable for road trips. The Ultium Platform also captures heat produced by the batteries. This feature improves charging speed even more and can increase the vehicle’s maximum range.

The Ultium Platform doesn’t sacrifice power, either. The batteries power Ultium Drive, which uses up to three motors in various configurations. The availability of three engines allows for high horsepower and torque. Those capabilities translate to more speed and towing capabilities. If you find a vehicle with Wide Open Watts mode, also known as WOW mode or Max Power mode, you’re in for an extraordinary treat.

Ultium Home

Long range, fast charging, and impressive performance are important qualities of an electric vehicle. But why stop there? The team at Chevrolet also wanted the vehicle to go above and beyond in other ways. For example, Ultium home allows for two-way power transfer between a Chevy EV and your home. In other words, while your home typically charges your vehicle, your Chevrolet EV can sometimes return the favor.

This feature does require that you have bidirectional charging capabilities, the needed grid interconnection, and a home with the proper capabilities to receive and use power from your vehicle. Assuming you have all those things, you’ll be able to use your vehicle to keep the lights on for as long as three weeks. Some drivers are already imagining ways to sell energy back to participating utility companies during peak hours.

Chevy Ultifi Software

Ultifi is the software platform behind the battery platform. It will provide drivers of Chevy EVs with on-demand personalization, access to apps, and upgrades. Regular updates will make it possible to optimize the user experience within the vehicle over time. These over-the-air updates will also mean fewer trips to the dealership for things that you can simply download from home instead.

The ability to download over-the-air updates unlocks a number of possibilities. As GM engineers develop and perfect new features, it’s possible to add them to existing Chevy vehicles with Ultifi. This might include things like regular updates to the Super Cruise driver assistance technology or new applications of cloud connectivity.

Start Living the EV Vehicle Lifestyle

If you’ve driven a Chevy hybrid before, such as the compact Chevrolet Volt hybrid, you already know this brand can combine efficiency with practicality. Now the focus has turned to all-electric vehicles. Whether you’re coming from a hybrid or a completely gas-powered vehicle, Chevy is working to make the transition an easy one.

So far, Chevrolet boasts more than 1,800 certified EV dealerships, so you shouldn’t have to look too far to find your electric vehicle. There’s also a growing network of public charging stations, so you won’t have to go out of your way to refill your range. Going electric helps you save at the pump and reduce your carbon footprint. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice too much convenience to get those benefits - and now you don’t have to.

Charging your EV Vehicle Made Easy

Proceed with confidence in your all-electric vehicle, knowing you’ll be able to recharge your batteries when needed. There are more than 100,000 charge points in the United States and Canada, and that number is constantly growing. This includes many DC Fast Charging stations, which allow electric vehicle owners to restore a good chunk of range in minutes.

Furthermore, Chevrolet will cover the standard installation of Level 2 charging outlets at the homes of qualifying customers of eligible Chevy EVs. These convenient charging options at home and on the road make it easier than ever to own an electric vehicle.
