Protect your Children with Teen Drive Technology

Teen Driver Technology11

Chevrolet’s Teen Driver technology is a safety system built into your vehicle that provides parents with a variety of controls to reinforce good driving habits every time their kids get behind the wheel. It connects to several core systems, including other safety features such as automatic braking and rear cross traffic alert. Parents are able to select as many features as they feel necessary to encourage safe driving practices. How does your vehicle know if there’s a teen in the driver’s seat? Adolescents can be given designated key fobs that activate the program.

Teen Driver can place limitations, set reminders, and record data about driving behavior. It can also lock certain safety features to ensure they can’t be turned off. The Teen Driver Vehicle Report Card is perhaps the most useful feature is the vehicle report card. This technology allows you to review data on your vehicle’s recent outing and can give you an idea of what your teen needs to improve on. It can also be an incentive to make good driving decisions since your kids know you can check the report card at any time.

A helpful reminder to buckle up

This technology can even support good habits before your teenager leaves the driveway. The Buckle to Drive feature provides visual and audio alerts if drivers aren’t buckled in when attempting to shift into drive or reverse. This feature even locks the gear shift for 20 seconds.

Technology with parental instincts

You know your teen best, which is why Teen Driver puts the control in your hands. This includes speed control car monitoring and stereo volume limits.

Speed warning

If your teen is driving over a preselected speed, you can set audible and visual warnings to alert them to slow down.

Governor Speed limiter

This caps the vehicle’s speed at 85 mph. If you just want to set a reminder for young drivers to be aware of how fast they’re going, you can program a warning to activate at a specific speed between 40 and 75 mph.

Audio limit

If your kids are music fans who like their tunes loud, you can set a reasonable limit on the volume.

Seat belt audio mute

There’s a seat belt reminder that mutes the stereo until everyone is buckled in.

Showing new drivers the way

Data collected by the CDC shows that teenage drivers have a higher risk of being in a collision — including fatal crashes. This is tied to teens’ being more likely to speed and play distracting, loud music. The Teen Driver program gives parents the resources to positively impact their kids’ driving behavior no matter where they are.

Monitoring teen drivers can make the road safer for everyone. You can get this revolutionary program in several of Chevrolet’s top models:
