2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Debuts With Up To 300 Miles Of Range

Chevrolet is on a mission to create electric vehicles for the masses. The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will be a big step forward for the movement toward earth-friendly vehicles with wide appeal. It’s a compact crossover SUV, which puts it squarely into one of the most popular categories in the United States.

It makes sense for Chevrolet to electrify the Equinox, which is currently the brand’s most popular model besides the legendary Silverado pickup truck. The company is selling an increasing amount of electric vehicles and a lot of Equinox SUVs, so why not combine the two? Based on early responses to the announcement of the 2024 Equinox EV, we expect to see a lot of these vehicles on the road starting in the fall of 2023.

Even beyond the popularity of the gas-powered Equinox and of Chevy’s existing SUVs, there are multiple reasons we expect people to love the Equinox EV. The Equinox is expected to deliver up to 300 miles of range on a single charge, making it highly competitive with the existing options. This is more than enough for daily driving and also makes plenty of road trips viable. Perhaps even more importantly, the price is right.

It goes on sale in the fall of 2023. The entry-level model starts at around $30,000.

Those who are interested in the new electric vehicle have been excited to learn about the Equinox EV price. With an expected starting price of around $30,000, the 2024 Equinox EV will be one of the more affordable electric SUVs on the market. This is a continuation of Chevrolet’s efforts to make electric vehicles more accessible to everyone.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the average price of an electric vehicle is more than $65,000 as of late 2022. Worse still, prices are headed in the wrong direction even as more electric vehicles hit the market. KBB reports that the average price of electric vehicles increased by 13% from 2021 to 2022.

The team at Chevrolet is working hard to correct this trend. By releasing affordable electric vehicles like the 2024 Equinox EV, the American auto brand is allowing people to go electric without blowing the budget. In turn, this will get more electric vehicles onto the road and keep the world moving toward an environmentally-friendly future.

The Equinox EV isn’t the only electric vehicle that Chevrolet will be releasing soon. The Blazer EV will be available starting during the summer of 2023, and the Silverado EV will be available starting in the fall of 2023, right around the same time as the Equinox EV. These vehicles all make excellent additions to Chevy’s current EVs: the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Frequently Asked Questions

What will the 2024 Equinox EV look like?

The Equinox EV is built on GM’s Ultium platform, which is the modular battery architecture for GM EVs, including those under the Chevy brand. The Ultium platform will give the Equinox EV some unique characteristics that make it stick out from the gas-powered version. For example, the battery pack will dictate some of the dimensions of the vehicle because it has to be able to fit within the wheelbase. As a result, the Equinox EV will have to have at least nine more inches between the wheels than the gas-powered version does.

Adding those nine inches between the front and rear wheels will make more space for the passengers, and it will also give the Equinox a longer, sleeker look. The EV will lose two inches outside of the wheels, however. All told, it’s seven inches longer than its sibling with the gasoline engine. The Equinox EV is also one inch lower and three inches wider.

Other features like the flush door handles will make this vehicle especially attractive. Drivers can also choose to upgrade from the standard 19-inch wheels to 20-inch or 21-inch options. Additional aesthetic choices like two-tone exteriors are available for drivers who want to turn some heads.

What are the 2024 Equinox EV trim levels?

The 2024 Equinox is expected to have five different trim levels to provide a variety of features and price points:

    • 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 1LT
    • 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 2LT
    • 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 3LT
    • 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 2RS
    • 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 3RS

Every trim level except for the 1LT is expected to come with an optional battery that produces up to 300 miles of range on a single charge. The 1LT is available with an optional battery as well. Every trim level is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and those who choose AWD with the 1LT trim will get the optional battery as well. Choosing AWD does lower the expected range slightly (from 300 to 280 miles).

How is the 2024 Equinox EV interior?

The 2024 Equinox EV interior is expected to be comfortable and roomy because of the elongated wheelbase. It will also offer some advanced technology to deliver the type of futuristic experience you might expect from an electric vehicle. Some of this is speculation as we await further details.

For example, Chevrolet hasn’t specifically said whether the Equinox EV will have wired or wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay yet. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are already available for the gas Equinox, so it seems like a reasonably safe bet.

There are also plenty of things we know for sure. The EV version of the Equinox will have a standard 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11-inch touchscreen, which is bigger than the one in the gas version. Higher trim levels of the 2024 Equinox will have a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen.

The technology doesn’t end there. Look for GM’s Super Cruise hands-free system in higher trim levels, too. This driver-assist technology can handle steering, acceleration, and braking on stretches of pre-mapped highways.
