What Is the Chevy Cares Program?

Community Hands (1)

Chevy is not your ordinary automotive manufacturer. This company truly cares about the people in the community, which is why they have teamed up with various charities around the country. When you shop with Chevy, you are not only getting a versatile and well-equipped vehicle, but you are also helping out some really good causes. Here is a look at some of the ways that Chevy is giving back.

Chevrolet Helps Cancer Awareness

Since 2011, Chevrolet has been a proud partner of the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Program. In the last decade, we have helped to raise over 16.7 million dollars for this wonderful organization.

When it comes to breast cancer, research shows that early detection may improve treatment success, which is why it is important to have regular mammograms once you have reached a certain age. Together, Chevy and its employees have participated in many events, including charity walks, to help bring awareness to this life-altering condition and help people understand breast cancer.

Empowering Kids Through the Power of Play

When children are a part of a sports team, they improve their social skills, raise their self-esteem, improve their health by being active, and learn important life lessons about winning and losing.

We believe that all children have the right to play sports if they want to. No child should be left out due to economic challenges. That is why Chevy has donated equipment and uniforms to various youth sports organizations. Over 1,000 Chevy dealerships across the country work together to donate to the youth baseball and softball organizations around the country. So far, Chevy has donated over 188,000 sports kits, made over 19,000 league enhancements, and created over 2,000 free youth clinics. Because of Chevy's efforts, over 16.4 million children have developed their baseball and softball skills.

Where Everyone Has a Voice

Chevy believes that all people are created equal and that everyone should have the chance to reach their full potential. We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. And we have chosen to partner with various organizations that believe the same thing. Here is a look at some of the diverse organizations we are actively helping.

Discover the Unexpected
Discover the Unexpected is an organization created by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) and Chevy to ensure that African American students can start a prosperous career after they graduate from college.

Students enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will have the opportunity to participate in a Journalism and Marketing internship. Interns will have the rare opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Chevy brands and immerse themselves in the world of all-electric vehicles. With this internship, students will be able to jumpstart their careers in the marketing industry after they graduate.

Authentic Voices of Pride
Chevy has partnered with the LGBTQ communities to create Authentic Voices of Pride. This publication gives a voice to commonly misunderstood communities. Some of the informative topics and educational information that you can learn through Authentic Voices include:

  • Raising LGBTQ Kids: gives valuable information to parents about how to talk to their LGBTQ children.
  • Small Town LGBTQ: allows people to learn how LGBTQ communities work and thrive in some of the most unexpected places.
  • Young LGBTQ Leaders talk about how young people in the LGBT communities are changing the world and educating the older generations on how to be more inclusive.
  • Drag Activism allows you to learn about the drag queen culture's past, present, and future and how it has changed over the years.
  • Families explore how LGBTQ parents have a unique set of obstacles they must overcome.
  • Inclusion in Sports discusses how LGBTQ athletes are changing the world of sports and making it a more inclusive atmosphere.
  • Justice Reform explores the various ways we can help improve equality for the LGBTQ communities regarding crime and incarceration rates.
  • Youth Homelessness. Unfortunately, LGBTQ teenagers are far more likely to become homeless than any other youth group. The organization discusses the problem and looks for ways to solve it.

Chevrolet Accessibility
The Chevy Accessibility program ensures that people with disabilities can enjoy a well-equipped and stylish vehicle. Chevy has built their vehicles to accommodate people with certain disabilities. And when you purchase a 2022 Traverse, you could receive up to $1,000 reimbursement when you purchase eligible adaptive equipment for your vehicle.
