The Affordable 2024 Chevy Equinox EV

The 2024 Chevy Equinox electric vehicle is expected to be the best of all possible worlds. It’s an all-electric vehicle with the classic appearance of a Chevy SUV. This means you can finally leave the gas pump in your rearview mirror without sacrificing style. As an added bonus, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will cost about half as much as the average electric vehicle in the United States.

Equinox EV: $30,000 ‘Ballpark’ Price

The all-electric version of the 2024 Equinox is expected to start around $30,000 before tax incentives. The expected price won’t be low enough to make the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV the least expensive vehicle on the lot at your local Chevrolet dealership. After all, the legendary American auto company has a reputation for producing some of the most affordable cars on the market.

Still, the perfectly reasonable starting price will give the electric Equinox a place among the best electric vehicles for the money. Compare it to the average cost of a battery-electric vehicle, roughly $65,000. With a starting price of only about $30,000, the Equinox EV will be much more affordable than the popular electric SUVs on the market.

2024 Chevy Equinox EV: Pricing Availability

For a more direct comparison, the Tesla Model Y is almost average in terms of pricing. It costs $65,990 for the Tesla Model Y base model. You could get two of the 2024 Equinox EVs for the same price. There are more affordable electronic SUVs than the Tesla, though.

More budget-friendly options include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV 6, Volkswagen ID.4, and Mustang Mach-E. Still, any one of those vehicles costs more than $40,000. That’s over $10,000 more than the expected starting price for the Equinox EV. There is still a question as to what types of tax credits will be available when the Equinox EV SUV reaches dealerships in the fall of 2024.

Federal EV incentives have been revised recently, and GM lost tax credits after reaching a certain sales threshold. If Equinox can get those credits back, it will make the effective starting price (after the tax credit) less than $25,000. In either case, Chevrolet is building an impressive electric vehicle and making it affordable. This is great news for people who can’t shell out $65,000 for a new vehicle or don’t want to.

All-New Vehicle, Familiar Styling

One of the many exciting things about this vehicle is that it avoids some of the quirky stylistic choices that have plagued other electric vehicles. In fact, the Chevy Equinox EV will look similar to the gas-powered version of the vehicle that’s on the roads today. One of the few big differences will be in the very front of the vehicle because EVs don’t require as much air to keep things cool under the hood.

Equinox EV Range Power

The 2024 Equinox EV will be available with a choice between two battery packs. Drivers can also choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. The Equinox EV is expected to return anywhere from 250 to 300 miles of all-electric range depending on the battery and drivetrain selected. The electric SUV is expected to deliver up to 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque.

Quick-Charging Equinox EV

During home charging, the Equinox EV can gain either 34 or 51 miles per range in an hour, depending on the charger. The electric SUV will be able to add as much as 70 miles of range in an hour at some of the public quick-chargers.
