Is a Chevrolet EV the Right Electric Vehicle for Me?

Everywhere you look, people are trading their current products for eco-friendly products. And vehicles are no exception. Over the last few years, the need for a non-gas-burning vehicle has continued to grow. And increasingly, automotive manufacturers are starting to fulfill the need and create a new line of vehicles that run off electricity.

Recently, Chevy announced that it would be adding more all-electric vehicles to its EV lineup in order to give its customers the most options. While EV vehicles are popular among a wide range of drivers, many people are still unsure if switching to an EV is the right choice for them. Here is a look at all of the pros and cons of owning an electric vehicle.

Benefits of Owning a Chevy Electric Vehicle

There are several benefits to owning an electric car. For starters, you will no longer have to stop off at the gas pumps, which could end up saving you several hundred dollars a year. With a Level One charger, you can charge your vehicle at home and save a lot of money. Level Two chargers can be found at various public venues and only cost a couple of dollars to use for an hour. A Level Three charger (also known as a DC Fast Charger) can bring your battery to full power in about an hour and can cost anywhere from $10 to $20. Even the most expensive charging option is considerably less expensive than gasoline.

Another advantage of owning an electric vehicle is being able to reduce your carbon footprint. When you drive a gas-powered car, many toxic gasses and pollutants are released into the air, harming the environment and your health. With an electric car, you can breathe easy, knowing that your vehicle is not adding to any of the harmful pollutants in the air when you are driving.

Electric Vehicle Considerations

While there are many benefits to owning an EV, there are also some things to consider. One of the most common reasons people choose not to purchase an electric vehicle is because they fear the battery will die while they are out and about, leaving them stranded.

This is an understandable concern. However, when you purchase a Chevy EV, your vehicle will tell you exactly how much battery power you have left. You will never have to wonder if you have enough juice to make it home. And if your battery is running a little low, Chevy offers a free Charging Locator tool that will point you to one of the 40,000 public charging stations that are available nationwide.

Hybrid Vs. Full-Electric Vehicles

All-electric vehicles and gas-powered hybrids are popular choices for people looking for an inexpensive way to drive a vehicle. However, with a hybrid, you are still contributing to the harmful pollutants that are being pushed into the air. All-electric vehicles provide a cleaner and more efficient way to travel.
