Highlights of the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro

2022 Chevrolet Camaro hero

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro is finally here! This sports coupe with a convertible option came back in 2008 after a brief absence. Chevy later upgraded the Camaro in 2016. Could the 2022 Camaro version be the last for Chevrolet due to the impending electrification?

The Chevrolet specialists at Valley Chevy-Phoenix, Arizona's finest Chevrolet dealers- provide you with the highlights of the latest Camaro. The 20-inch Caliente-style aluminum wheels that come standard on the 2SS and ZL1 variants will be unavailable. Read on for more.

The Exterior and Interior Design

The current-generation Camaro features a sleek style with a retro-enhanced appearance. Shock and crush paint options have been dropped in favor of Rapid Blue and Vivid Orange Metallic as extra-cost options.

The pony car features a large hood and a small back deck. The car's appearance is boosted by a powerful grille, big wheel wells, identifiable characteristic lines, and a rear haunch. Wide fenders and a tucked-in middle enhance the coke-bottle concept theme.

The interior of the Camaro is not as exciting, with plenty of low-cost plastics and various materials. The Camaro's inside appearance has been improved through contrast stitching, two-tone leather, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The ZL1 has a pair of Recaros in place of the regular bucket seats.

The Technology

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display and a 6-speaker stereo system. It is also equipped with standard features like Bluetooth, USB connections, a WiFi hotspot, and smartphone compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The upgrades are an 8-inch touchscreen display and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster. You also get a Bose audio system with seven or nine speakers, wireless phone charging, and a head-up display. Some trims and packages come with satellite radio and navigation.

The Safety Features

The Chevy Camaro has a rearview camera and Teen Driver technology, which allows you to regulate the vehicle's speed and audio level. Driver-assist systems are available with a variety of trim and package modifications.

Forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are all available from Chevrolet. There's also a rearview camera mirror, rear parking sensors, and a head-up display. Surprisingly, there is no option for automatic emergency braking.

The Transmissions and Engines

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro has four engine options: four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and eight-cylinder. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, is standard. However, a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque is also available for $100.

When it comes to V8 engines, there are two options. The LS1 and SS grades are powered by a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. This one has the same 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque as the previous one. Choose the ZL1 variant, which comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. The output rises to 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, a significant boost.

The standard on all trim levels is the 6-speed manual gearbox. Alternatively, the base engine is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The other three engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission. The V8 engines need premium fuel, while the other two engines may operate on the normal.

The Camaro has a front suspension with a double-pivot, control-arm, and struts design from Chevrolet. Magnetic dampers, available as an option, help ride control, and agility. Direct steering, superb handling, and good cornering are all features of the Camaro. However, the ride is a little rough.
