Chevy or Porsche? It’s an important question when you want to drive one of the fastest cars in the world. In terms of raw power, Autoblog.com reports that the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette stacks up favorably compared to the 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman.

The Corvette churns out 650 horsepower compared to 300 from the Cayman. That explains why the Chevy goes from zero to 60 in only 3.3 seconds, while the Porsche takes five. Chevy’s bigger V8 engine comes with a superior transmission, which offers seven speeds instead of six from the Porsche.

WHAT’S NEW IN 2018?

Porsche didn’t change up its special offerings very much in 2018. New features are fairly limited, but there are some good new options for customization. Buyers now have the option to pick contrasting colored stitching and seatbelts to give extra pop on the interior.

Chevrolet took 2018 as an opportunity to push limits even further when it comes to power and performance. Every year that passes, Chevy cranks the horsepower up to previously unheard of levels.

THE EXTERIOR

t’s a given that either one of these cars is going to perform as well as anything you’ve ever driven. The next challenge is to look good doing it. The new Corvette has an aggressive exterior design to match the performance it’s capable of. Powerful lines and body vents combine to create a striking appearance that’s impossible to overlook.

The Porsche Cayman also looks great on the outside. Not much has changed, but it has the smooth appearance for which this brand has come to be known. There’s nothing wrong with the exterior of the 2018 Cayman – Porsche just didn’t push the envelope as far as Chevrolet.

THE INTERIOR

One of the great things about the Corvette’s interior is that it will already be the perfect temperature when the driver gets in, thanks to remote start technology. Extendable sun visors and Chevy’s heads up display help keep everyone comfortable for the duration of the drive.

The base model Cayman doesn’t offer quite the same kinds of top tier features the Corvette does, but the interior is still commendable. Aside from the lack of cup holders, this new Porsche is much more satisfactory in the area of luxury than performance.

SAFETY FEATURES

Neither of these vehicles have been tested for crash analysis by either the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This isn’t at all uncommon for vehicles in this class, and it is no cause for concern.

Both have plenty of great safety features and the ability to hug the road even when cornering at high speeds. The Corvette may have a slight edge simply because of Chevy’s focus on keeping the driver’s eyes on the road.
