2019 Chevrolet Colorado compared to 2019 Nissan Frontier

In a side by side comparison of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado vs. 2019 Nissan Frontier, it is easy to see why the Chevy has edged out its competition. While the tried and true Nissan Frontier holds to tradition with the same basic design that has worked for them since 2004, the Best-In-Class Chevrolet Colorado combines play and work, fun and functionality, innovation and inheritance.

Exterior Comparison

The 2019 Colorado has retired four old colors and added three new ones in 2019. The ZR2, a favorite with offroad enthusiasts, has new black bowties, while the 18-inch Dark Argent cast-aluminum wheels have been redesigned.

The 2019 Frontier has extended the availability of the Cayenne Red Metallic paint choice.

Interior Comparison

This year, Chevy has redesigned the Colorado infotainment systems. MyLink has now been replaced by Infotainment System with either 7-inch display screens or 8-inch HD color screens.

The USB ports, one type A and one type C, are now found on the front console with the addition of an SD Card Reader and an auxiliary input jack.

This year’s Nissan Frontier now boasts a standard 7-inch color audio touchscreen in the S and SV models.

Safety Features Comparison

For 2019, Chevrolet Colorado has added a standard HD Rear Vision Camera on the LT, Z71, and ZR2 models. Additionally, Ultrasonic Rear Park Assist is standard on the Z71 trim option. While it is available on the work truck and LTs, it is not available on the base or ZR2 models. Other new safety features that are available on the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado but not available on the 2019 Nissan Frontier are:

  • Fully automatic exterior light control
  • Power door locks
  • Delay-off headlight (standard)
  • Headlight washer (standard)
  • Daytime running lights (standard)
  • Tilt/telescoping steering column (standard)
  • Ignition disable (standard)

Nissan did not add any additional safety features in 2019 to its Frontier mid-sized trucks.

Warranty Comparison

Roadside assistance is available on both the Chevy Colorado and the Nissan Frontier. However, the Chevy Colorado offers assistance for 60 mo/60,000 mi compared to just 36 mo/36,000 mi for the Nissan Frontier.

The corrosion warranty on the Colorado is 72 mo/100,000 mi while the Frontier offers 60 mo/unlimited mi. The Chevrolet Colorado really shines with free maintenance for 12 mo/unlimited mi, while the Nissan Frontier does not provide any free maintenance.

The 2019 Chevy Colorado is a clear winner. It was awarded the Popular Mechanics Off-Road Truck of the Year for the Colorado ZR2 Bison.

It also boasts the power of choice with multiple accessories and a choice of three engines: the standard 2.5L I-4 and the available options of either a 3.6L V6 or the GM-exclusive Duramax 2.8L Turbo-Diesel.
